Testimonials

"Rob came to my unit to teach my Girl Guides self defence. He showed them how to identify threats, how to strike to escape, and then talked to them about how they were most likely to become unsafe and how to deal with this, including how to find help when they were somewhere they weren't familiar with, and who to talk to when at home or school.

The group came away feeling empowered by their new knowledge. Rob uses a mixture of humourous anecdotes and powerful demonstrations to make the group feel comfortable whilst keeping them gripped on the lesson. They loved the use of games to help them understand the lesson he was teaching. He is calm, approachable and caters his teaching style to the abilities of the group.

It's such a valuable skill for young people to learn; I encourage all leaders, teachers and parents to support their students/children to take part in self defence classes, especially Rob's!"

Rob has facilitated for us at Action4Youth and worked across two programmes with a mixed cohort of young people, with groups that had different needs and abilities including special educational needs.

In all sessions Rob has remained professional, engaging and made instructions easy to understand and follow whilst keeping it upbeat and fun!

He incorporated games, structure and skills into each session whilst also giving the young people a chance to work on or try things they found interesting/ wanted to ask him how to do.

He remained really flexible throughout so would happily change the session dependant on the needs and interests of the young people taking part and also encouraged staff to get involved which was great!

We will definitely be using Rob again in the future.
